Puppy Love on Offer on Tinder

Puppy love is on offer on Tinder thanks to some clever marketing interns and a New York shelter.

Ten dogs looking for someone to love them had profiles made that were uploaded onto the Tinder app. On Tinder, you are shown an image of another person on Tinder who is geographically close to you with similar interests. You then ‘swipe left’ to skip the person if they don’t look right to you, or ‘swipe right’ if you think you might like them. If both parties swipe right, you are given the option to chat through the app to see if you would then like to meet up.

As it turns out, there are a lot of dog lovers on Tinder. The 10 dogs received 2700 matches within a week. Of course, finding a match doesn’t instantly mean the dogs are adopted. Someone still needs to decide to adopt the dog and go down to the shelter. But, it was a great idea to raise awareness and help get the faces of these little dogs out there to maximise their chance of adoption.

A similar app called BarkBuddy does currently exist. The idea of BarkBuddy is to match people who are looking at adopting a dog with dogs that need to be adopted nearby. BarkBuddy is run by the people at Bark & Co, a company founded on the belief that everyone should have a dog in their life, and every dog should have a human. They also have a fantastic blog over at www.thebarkpost.com .
