It’s estimated that there are 4.2 million dogs in Australia. That works out to be 19 dogs for every 100 people. Let’s face it Australian’s are passionate about their pets. And we all know dogs rule and cats drool, right?

Dogs make awesome pets. One of the best things about them are the diverse breeds that people can choose from. Whether you love an easy going mutt or prefer a lean weimaraner to go running with, there is a dog breed for just about everyone. If you like small dogs to keep your lap warm, try out a toy poodle or chihuahua. Do you like adventuring? Then a golden retriever, labrador, or border collie may be right up your alley.

At Love That Pet North Ryde we wanted to find out the most popular dog breeds in Sydney for 2016. We pooled our medical records, and the files from our sister clinics in Sydney to find out. From a list of over 5,000 patients we have found the most popular breeds. Turns out the most popular breed by far are the mix breeds, with 34% of our list coming from some variation of breeds.
